Hello Everyone!! My name is Sharline Reyes, I began coaching with Miss Donna at the age of seven years old. I am now a coach for one of the most prestigious studio in the country. I absolutely love being able to choreograph a routine for a child, whether it be a new student or a seasoned student, being able to bring out the dancer in them, and seeing the
progress each child makes throughout our time together. Standing behind the judges and watching as each Student performs on stage with confidence, determination, and drive; it gives me a sense of pride. Whether it be a student that I teach, or a student another coach in the studio has taught. You can see how much class this studio represents, and that in itself makes me so thankful and happy to be a part of.
Throughout the years, I have learned many life lessons, How to win and lose graciously.
This past weekend we gathered in Miss Donna's room at AGM. We had our Strut Rally, and began our night announcing who we are, and where we are from. People from all over were gathered in that room, ready to strut their stuff the following day. We played a couple of games, and said some chants to get our Strut Spirit going for the weekend. The girls learned some new moves, and by the nights end, they were ready to get their strut on!
The following day, Miss Donna, and the coaches sat in the ballroom and cheered on each and every child that hit the stage. I saw very many talented and beautiful girls this past weekend. Everyone did wonderful, and there was some fierce competition! As Sunday rolled around, and the nerves began to take play, I looked around at all the contestants and mothers. I noticed as the supreme titles were being called, the excitement and nervousness each one had. After each supreme was called I saw the smiles of the contestants who did win, and the disappointment of others. The ballroom became quite tense as many beautiful contestants were not being called for titles, and the crying of some children became apparent.
I sat in that ballroom and smiled for the girls who did win, and I smiled for the girls who did not get to take home a crown, It was very bittersweet congratulating one child, while encouraging another child to keep their chin up, and let them know how wonderful they did that weekend.
I just want all parents to know that even if your child does not take home a crown one weekend, never ever give up. Don't ever let your child lose their sparkle to strut on! As I tell the parents and children that I coach or have the pleasure of meeting, "Maybe this weekend another little girl deserved her crown, sometimes we just have to share, and that's ok" :) Always teach your child humility, and grace. In life we must learn to win some and lose some. Its a beautiful lesson we all must learn no matter how old we are.
Remember to Always Strut Happy!
With Much Love,
Miss Sharline
